Letter to my Enemy
I remember those cheers. They still ring in my ears. The constant screaming of the fans before the big fight. You'll be surprised how noisy it gets in the arena when everyone considers you the underdog. But the fans don't know me or my grind. If only they could see what i see. Believe it or not, everything slows down when you're in the octagon. Every jab, every kick, every maneuver seems instantaneous to the eyes of the fans. But i know better. I can see through every move. The right hook following a double jab, the single leg into full guard, i see it all. I know all your specialities and all of your weaknesses. I have seen you throw that same devastating hook over one thousand times. Thats why time feels almost infinite to me. Thats why you can't beat me, thats why i won't lose.
Everyday leading up to this moment has become the deciding factor for this fight. My life has always been a fight. Although i might not be favored to win the fight in the eyes of the people, i know deep inside that i have sacrificed enough to win. I may not be as gifted as my opponent but that doesn't matter. There is one thing that separates the two of us, i worked harder than him. I bled more blood, i sweat more sweat, i cried more tears and I've left nothing to chance. I want it more! The wolf climbing the hill is hungrier than the wolf on top of the hill. Day by day i see myself being greater then the man i was yesterday. What is each day but a series of conflicts between the right way and the easy way? With each step comes the decision to take another. Im on my way now. I'm a lion in a field of lions all hunting the same elusive prey with the desperate starvation that says "Victory is the only thing that can keep me alive". Through all the noise and chaos, I am calm. The bell rings. Lets get to work.

Dear Brandon,
ReplyDeleteReally good job threading the vocal with the sound. The sound never overtakes the story and it's tonally right on point. You can consider possibly playing with it a bit because you will have a more dramatic effect if the music gets louder as you build to the highest point of the story, and then end with the swell of the music.
If you say the "bell rings," shouldn't a bell ring?
I did like how the music plays for a couple of seconds after the vocal part ends.
Also, the narration sounds real--it's measure, slowly paced, and convincing. That's really difficult to do. Your team is lucky to have you--part of what makes or breaks a podcast is realism. Nice work.
The sound you added in behind the audio makes this very realistic and interesting to listen to. It reminds me of a track that I'd hear in a movie like Rocky haha, which gave it an element of inspiration/competitiveness that blended in perfectly with the basis of your script!
